Feelin' Fringey.

How cute are these  fringe earrings from H&M?!?! As soon as I set eyes on them, I was drawn to them, but I was a little hesitant to make the purchase. I was slightly intimidated by their size and boldness, but boy am I glad I took the plunge, because they are sooooo fun! I envisioned using them to spice up a plain black tank dress (which I'll totally still do), but as soon as I put on this printed mini shift dress I thought of these white fringe earrings. My lip purse and translucent blue sunglasses were fun too, and I thought the whole outfit had a whimsical, summer vibe to it. Are you loving fringe as much as I am? Would you rock these fun earrings? Let me know!

Leaving My Comfort Zone.

I have a serious scarf addiction. When I go into the thrift store, and see all the different, lovely patterns I just can't help myself and usually leave with at least two. So, now I have all these scarves sitting in my closet just waiting to be worn. I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration and fell in love with all of these images of  chic ladies wearing scarves. They made it look so easy, and that, I think, is the key to wearing a scarf...making it look effortless. And I really stress the word 'look' here, because it took multiple tries to tie it the way I liked. I paired this scarf with the denim because I liked the pattern and colors against the blue. I know denim on denim can be tricky to pull off, and I believe when done right it looks great and I was pretty happy with how I pulled it off. All together, I was quite happy with the outfit. It was a little different that something I would normally wear, but I really liked it and I love expanding my fashion sense. That's one thing I didn't expect to get from this blog, but it has been a great way to push my own style choices and really given me confidence try things outside of my comfort zone, and that is such a great way to grow. So here's to being brave, wearing what makes you happy and rocking a sick neck scarf!

Vest Versatility

This is a fun, easy look I put together for a weekend date day and I really love how it turned out! That's not surprising since it's made up of some things I've been really into lately: crop tops, high waists, 70's vibes and this vest. I didn't realize until I picked up this vest, that it was an article of clothing sorely under represented in my closet - and what a tragedy! It is such a versatile layering piece! Maybe because I have been unconsciously connecting them with the over-worn puffer vests of my small town youth, but they have never really held any appeal to me...that is until now. I have seen the vest in a new, modern light and my closet is all the better for it. I have also invested in a sleeveless trench and I am equally in love with it. Follow me on insta-g if you want to see other ways to style these pieces :)

A study in Minimalism

I dedicate this entire blog post to my love of the minimalism trend. I didn't realize how passionate I was about it until I sat down to write the post. I have re-written this about three times now, and I kept feeling like I was giving off a crazy rant vibe...and I probably was (and will) but maybe if I try to explain myself you will understand why I feel so passionately. First of all, I like the look of it. Does that go without saying? I wasn't sure, but I thought I'd get that out of the way to start. Second, and far less shallowly, I love the versatility of the pieces this trend is adding to my wardrobe. Not only is it easy to match up all the pieces like in the look below, but each individual piece could play a center part in a completely different look (or 2 or 3). They each can be dressed up or down - the possibilities are endless! That versatility adds fun AND value to a wardrobe, and who doesn't want that?! Well, if you made it this far along in my impassioned ramblings about minimalism...thank you for reading!! Haha.

Blue Jean Baby...

It's slowly starting to warm up here in Western Canada, and all I want to do is wear dresses! However...it's not quite that warm enough so, I had to do a little wardrobe compromise and I really like how this outfit turned out. I took a simple jean dress and toughened (and warmed) it up with my flat, thigh-high boots and my moto jacket. I love my little red, quilted purse for a pop of colour, so it was an obvious choice for this outfit.

Trend to Try: Culottes

I was pretty stoked to find these fun, affordable culottes at Forever21 recently. I had found myself pinning lots of looks with them, but I wasn't quite ready to try the trend until I found these, and at $30 I couldn't say no to this fun update to my spring wardrobe. On this day, I dressed them up for a dinner out with a few classic pieces: a silky, button-up white blouse and leather moto jacket (two items I believe should be in every women's closet...just sayin'). I added some heels and an animal print clutch - ta da! I think I am going to have a lot of fun with these pants; for my next outfit I am picturing something a little more casual, maybe flatforms and crop tops? sneakers and a white T? I love the versatility!
