Bye Bye Booties

I can't believe it's September already! Fall is upon us, and if my Pinterest board is any indication...I am very excited to start wearing cozy layers. That being said, a part of me is sad to see the summer go...because these booties did not get out enough! Haha. I took advantage of one of our last days of warm weather to rock them with distressed boyfriend jean shorts and a white blouse and blazer. One of my major fashion loves is pairing seemingly contrasting styles to create a put together outfit. I loved the distressed, relaxed style of the shorts in contrast with the more formal style of a button up blouse and blazer. The white on white palette is also something I've been digging lately. I don't think I'll be able to give up the booties quite yet (they're just too good), so I am going try and transition them into my fall wardrobe. Speaking of fall wardrobe...I am working on an exciting new post, something a little different than my usual posts - stay tuned!

LBD: Long Blue Dress

I am loving the cami/lingerie inspired dress silhouettes I've been seeing this summer. I fell in love with this Old Navy maxi version. I loved it so much, I bought it in two colours! In all fairness, there was a sale and I had some coupons :p This was my first styling of it, it was for my birthday dinner. I think the cami/lingerie style makes the dress feel a little bit sexy, so it's perfect for a date outfit. I wanted to keep the easy, flowy feeling of the dress with a long pendant necklace and dainty natural stone necklace. I kept the sandals flat and natural, but still a little glam with the gold accent. The soft, folded black clutch, I chose because it kept with the unstructured nature of the outfit. I felt comfortable and gorgeous all evening! What do you think about this silhouette for dresses?

After all that serious posing, I had to have a little fun...

Black + Yellow.

I was up to my ol' print mixing ways this week. There's a real art to it, ya know. It's not as easy as some fashionistas make it look. You've got to have an eye for it. Now, I am not saying that I am one of these fashionistas, but man do I like to try! It's a great feeling when you make that unexpected match that just works. I've had a lot of fun mixing and matching with these window pane print trousers. The monogram necklace is new (gift from the best sister ever, thanks Shmiss!) and I am excited about styling it with my other jewelry. Here I paired it with a bold statement necklace. I like it! What do you think?

Inner Bohemian

I find it very hard to define my "style". I could never pick one look and wear it forever. I guess that's one of my favorite things about fashion: I can change up my look every single day. Maybe I want to be preppy one day, with lots of structure and clean lines, but the next day I can be free and float-y and bohemian. And my inner bohemian has a thing for pantsuits. Seriously. They always catch my eye when I see them in stores and I couldn't say no to this one. I loved the print and the flow-y legs. I think the pantsuit can be a little intimidating, maybe because it's a little outside one's comfort zone, but it's soooo easy to wear. Top and bottom, BAM! Instant outfit :) I wanted this look to be casual, so I paired it with some easy, neutral wedges and the infamous jean jacket.
